Terms & withdrawal policy

Applies only to buying a princely title. Voting is and stays free.

This is a courtesy translation. The German version is the legally binding one; where the two differ, the German text prevails.

§ 1 Provider and scope

These terms govern contracts between name and address as in the imprint (the “provider”) and users regarding the purchase of a princely title on heimatliga.lol. Free voting is not part of any contract.

§ 2 The service

The subject of the contract is the display of a handle or address supplied by the user as the “prince” of a particular district on heimatliga.lol, on the map and in the Hall of Princes. The service is entertainment; it grants no rights over the district and no connection to municipalities, administrations or authorities.

The entry is made immediately after successful payment and applies without a fixed term, but only until another person takes it over under § 3. There is expressly no claim to a minimum duration — the fact that a throne can be taken is the core of the offer.

§ 3 Prices, takeovers and credit

  • A district's entry price follows its population and is shown before purchase. The bands are listed in the rules.
  • An occupied throne can be taken over by bidding at least €1 above the current throne value.
  • Amounts a handle has already paid for a district are credited against a further bid for the same district. Only the difference is due.
  • Credited amounts are a credit for that district only. They are not transferable and not redeemable for cash.
  • If two people bid at the same time, the higher bid receives the throne. The lower bid remains as credit under the third bullet above.
  • All prices are final prices choose a tax note: “including statutory VAT” or “no VAT pursuant to § 19 UStG”.

§ 4 Conclusion of contract and payment

The contract is concluded when our payment service provider Stripe confirms the payment. The entry is triggered only by that confirmation; an abandoned checkout results in no contract and no entry.

§ 5 Permitted content

Entries must not infringe third-party rights, be criminal, incite hatred, be abusive, impersonate an official body, or link to unlawful content. The provider may hide or remove such entries without prior notice.

Where an entry is removed for that reason, there is no claim to a refund and no claim to credit under § 3. In every other case of removal by the provider, the amount paid is refunded.

§ 6 Availability

The site is run as a hobby project. No particular availability is promised. If operation is discontinued permanently, the display of all entries ends; there is no claim to continued operation.

§ 7 Liability

The provider is liable without limitation for intent and gross negligence, and for injury to life, body or health. For slightly negligent breaches of material contractual duties, liability is limited to the foreseeable damage typical for this type of contract. Liability is otherwise excluded.

§ 8 Governing law

German law applies. For consumers, mandatory protective provisions of the country of their residence remain unaffected.

Right of withdrawal

Right of withdrawal

Consumers have the right to withdraw from this contract within fourteen days without giving any reason. The withdrawal period is fourteen days from the day the contract was concluded.

To exercise the right of withdrawal, an unambiguous statement to name, address and email address for withdrawals is sufficient. Sending the statement before the period expires is enough to meet the deadline.

Effects of withdrawal

In the case of an effective withdrawal we refund all payments received without delay, and no later than fourteen days from receipt of the withdrawal statement, using the same means of payment used for the purchase.

Early expiry of the right of withdrawal

For a contract on the supply of digital content, the right of withdrawal expires if you have expressly requested that we begin performance before the withdrawal period ends and you have confirmed that you thereby lose your right of withdrawal (§ 356(5) of the German Civil Code).

That is precisely what the checkbox in the purchase form confirms. Without that checkbox no checkout is started — so if you want to keep your right of withdrawal, please do not buy the title.
